Contracts

How do you keep track of contract renewals?

By The REMNIVO team · Published · Updated

Record end dates and notice periods for every agreement, calculate the last safe decision date, and automate warnings well before it. Auto-renewal clauses punish businesses that rely on memory.

Many commercial agreements renew automatically unless you serve notice within a defined window — sometimes months before the end date. Miss it and you're committed for another term at prices that may no longer suit you.

The calculation that matters

For each contract compute: last_notice_date = end_date − notice_period. Then subtract your internal decision time (procurement review, budgeting). That gives the real deadline — often far earlier than the end date itself. Track both.

A simple renewal workflow

  • 90 days out: renewal event opens; gather performance notes and alternatives
  • At notice window: decision becomes critical; either serve notice or confirm terms
  • On completion: update the record — new dates, new document version, memory stays true
